Start at Burrowbridge Bridge - End at Langport

Directions from Burrowbridge:

Carefully cross over road, preferably between light changes, joining path between pub and river.

Follow riverside path, passing through numerous farm gates and keeping river on RHS [until reaching Langport]

Keeping river on RHS, pass girder bridge for farm vehicles.

Pass lock gate/flood control  facility.

Keeping river on RHS, pass small girder bridge for pedestrians.

Passing under railway viaduct the 'signed' route forks left toward middle of distant buildings, crossing a mid-field footbridge which may be damaged.  Hence, recommended to follow riverside until reaching buildings and then turning left to find 'signed' gate and path through to Bow Street [the main road through town].

Reaching Bow Street turn right back toward river - No sneaking through Stacey's Car Park or you will be penalised!

Just before road bridge passes over river cross road and take the left into yard access road.  Has warning sign showing pedestrian access only.

Before going into works yard, veer right over Cocklemoor Footbridge and them immediately left following graveled riverside footpath.

The finishing line for this leg and the first relay is on the riverside by the footbridge from Stacey's Car Park.

Additional information:

Parking is very limited near to Burrowbridge bridge. We have not made any special arrangements to use either the nearby hall parking, or that for the pub [but if you are a customer, then normal arrangements would apply].  Where practicable, please use room in other local roads carefully to avoid clogging the carriageway or blocking residents driveways etc.

The 'Mump' just to the east and accessed by a convenient footpath is well worth a visit on its own merits and for fantastic views of the surrounding countryside as well as for spotting approaching runners.  It is operated by the National Trust, has its own car park and is free to visit.
