After many years of talking about hosting a race it’s taken a serious illness to finally galvanise the Hydro Harriers into action. The race is being staged to raise vital funds for S.U.R.E. - the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment and Thurlbear school PTA. In October 2014 S.U.R.E. launched a major fundraising campaign targeted at raising £500,000 by March 2017 to purchase a new Big Bore CT Scanner/ Simulator for the Beacon Centre. In our small way we hope to raise funds that will go on to help thousands of local people in our area.

The run will start at Thurlbear School on Sunday 14th June at 11.00am. The course follows quiet country lanes and forest tracks, it’s gently undulating and suitable for all abilities. The race has been kindly sponsored by Perry’s Cider, who will be providing all runners with a refreshing memento after the run. There is limited parking around the school so car sharing or cycling to the start is strongly encouraged. Refreshments after the race are being provided by the Thurlbear School PTA who hope to have a BBQ and cake stall.  I would greatly appreciate your help and support  by advertising the race to all your members.
