Well not much to write today due to unfortunate circumstances!! What can I write, other than I’ve been looking forward to this event all week. Weather could’ve been better as a lot of us are not used to this wet stuff oh and the wind!! Well we all turned up to pick up our race numbers and then the complimentary club photos taken by birthday boy Andy,( who ran out to support oh and ran back!) photos done, off to the start line and a few minutes we were off!!
So one lap of the field then we’re out on the road heading out towards the dirty fields that are waiting for us. We turned the corner and started going down the hill, to which I thought everything going well, good pace then before I knew it I was on the deck! Unfortunately straight away I know that was my race done as went over on my ankle. A lot of runners around were great, asking how I was, more importantly Rebecca stopped to help me but I told her to keep going as we wanted to win the club shield that was up for grabs!!
Then I was helped up by 2 runners who started to help me back to which I persisted them to carry on running! The guy took me up on that offer but a lady from ilminster minsters helped me back a bit more, till I could put weight on my foot and again I said carry on with your run, which then she did.(I later thanked her again when I saw her come in to which she made up good time after helping me!)Tim Hoyle saw me heading back so bless him he went back to get help and then carried on with his race.
I was First Lady back but didn’t think it counted towards the club prize!
After I was treated by a nice first aider and Adrian popped by, I was then up and about to watch the others come in. Congratulations to Ed who whizzed in I wasn’t ready to take a picture, then soon after that the Crewkerne members were all making their way in.
Once all back to the hall we went to wait on results. Up went Ed to collect his winners trophy, then the announcement for team prize which we all know by now was Crewkerne Runnning club!!
Something to retain now for next year and hopefully I’ll get round next year!!
Thank you though to all who helped me in time of need, thank you Lisa too for the cup of tea!!
