As per usual, YHM day always falls when the clocks go forward, so well done to all who managed to drag themselves up and out of bed for a 9 o'clock start, also well done to all the 'Mums' too!!
Conditions couldn't have been more perfect for a half today, not so good for the spectators but you cant please everyone! So we all meet for the complamentary team photo and then made our way to the start line. Sure enough we were started on time and off we went. As normal I was guilty of going off to fast but then tried to settle down to my usual plod. It was nice to see other family members in the crowd cheering us all on and all so along Ninesprings where Andy D, Fran and Tamsin were watching. At the end of that part thankfully no one turned around as those familar with park run, thats the turnapoint! Also Darren was there on hand to take some more pictures and then to support us along the way via peddle power. (Thanks for your help so I could take my gel!!) So next stage was to get to Montacute where clive and Elaine were supporting and Clive to take pictures, although he was having a few technical problems when I passed!
So after that point a nice down hill bit then the 2 dreaded hills. I ran the first one but then got to the water or electric station then had to walk, which was the first bit of walking I did up untill then. Once they were out the way, hit the 10 mile marker so just a park run left to do.At that point, I checked my time and was on course for a half PB. So onward I plodded,by which time my thighs were starting to burn but the PB in mind kept me going. 11 miles ,then 12, so the last mile seemed the longest and hardest. A few little hills but after nearly 13 they were tough, then nearing the town, you could hear the crowed getting louder. So the final push into the Quedam, seeing the other members that had already finished and other support crew cheering you on spurred me for a sprint finish,(going down hill helped!). Crossed the finish line and looked at the clock which was at 2.16 something, I was well chuffed with that.
Congratulations on nearly all club runners as far as I'm aware alot of Pb's today. Same time next year everyone?!!
