This morning our members were met with perfect running conditions for this year's Winter Handicap.  After reviewing my handicap times with Andy over a lovely warm Costa Coffee (thanks Andy) it was soon time to gather the runners for the off.  First runner off was Hilary with the others spread quite evenly with first time handicaper Harvey the last one off, 23 minutes later.  We then had a bit of time to pop in to the hall for a warm cup of tea where we found Stuart, Nick, Eve and Steve hard at work in the kitchen.  It wasn't long before we were back outside excitedly waiting for the lead runner to appear at the finishing straight.  First in sight and well out in front was Hilary who finished strong in a course PB of 49:10, 2 minutes 50 quicker than her predicted and 3 minutes quicker than her previous best time.  An amazing time, well done Hilary.  Next across the line was Dave Carnell who also ran his best time this year 1 minute 21 seconds quicker than predicted.  In third place was new member Harvey Walsh who finished in a time of 28:20 which is the fastest time on the course for a couple of years.  This was 40 seconds faster than predicted.  Unfortunately Club President Clive could not make it to present the President's Trophy so thanks to Derek for doing the honours  Well done to everyone who took part and pushed yourselves to your limits.  Thanks to Andy and Sarah for your help and to Steve, Stuart, Nick and Eve for taking on the kitchen duties.  Thanks also to Jenny for getting supplies and to everone who donated cakes (sorry I don't know everyone who donated but they were very much appreciated.)
