Welfare – What we expect from our members

Crewkerne Running Club is committed to being a welcoming and friendly club and ensuring that all members can participate in club activities in an enjoyable and safe environment.  The club believes that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those who participate in club events.  The club takes the welfare and wellbeing of its members very seriously.

Crewkerne Running Club wants to promote an atmosphere in which members feel comfortable to challenge inappropriate behaviour and language by others or report it to the welfare officer.

Club members must adhere to the club rules and respect the rights, dignity and worth of every club member and treat everyone equally. Strict adherence to these values must be maintained when representing the club at events and races.  Please see the club’s code of conduct.

The club has a designated welfare officer whose role is to ensure that the club adheres to UK Athletics welfare and wellbeing policies.

The current Club Welfare Officer is Fran Frost who is available to offer help and advice. You can contact Fran at welfare@crewkernerunning.club

Alternatively speak to Fran directly on a Tuesday at the club run.

What is a Club Welfare Officer?

A Club Welfare Officer will listen confidentially to any issues that may arise and endeavor to support your individual needs and wellbeing.  This may include disputes, poor practice and concerns about the welfare of any member of the club. The Club aims to create an environment where you feel safe and are able to participate in club events without being subject to any form of harassment, bullying, verbal or physical abuse or excessive pressure. Welfare covers a wide range of issues such as antibullying, equality, poor practice in coaching and disciplinary and grievance matters. The club’s code of conduct is in line with UK athletics policies as below. In order to provide the support for your needs and well-being, the information shared with a Welfare Officer may be shared with some designated members of the Committee, but only on a need to know basis. Exceptions are also made, for example if you may present a danger of violence to others; or if there is a reasonable suspicion that you are likely to harm yourself unless protective measures are taken.
